The very chilled Island of Koh Tao is known as the true diving Mecca of Thailand. There are many beautiful long sandy beaches, tranquil bays and world class dive sites on Koh Tao all perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving with an abundance of tropical marine life that varies from butterfly fish, parrot fish, clownfish (where you might find Nemo) to the bigger trigger fish, giant bBarracuda, groupers, reef sharks and the majestic gentle giants of the sea whale sharks.

Koh Tao meaning Turtle Island has grown into the hottest dive spot in the country. This small island paradise only has an area of 21 square km. and lies north of the larger and busier sister islands of Koh Samui and Ko Phangan and hosts some of the most spectacular dive sites found anywhere in the world such as;
Green Rock; ranging between just 1 and 28 meters in depth, these are boulder formations which form an array of short tunnels. Diving at these rocks allows you to view parrot fish while breeding, white eyed moray eels and blue spotted rays. The area is safe and is perfect for beginners and advanced divers alike.
Nangyuan Pinnacles (Red Rock); this area is composed of a large granite boulder formation which is home to a diverse range of tropical reef fish such as large groupers, long fin banner and blue spotted stingrays.
Shark Island; just off the south-west coast, this area is another dive spot with depths of almost 30 meters and home to hawksbill turtles, blue ridged angel fish, long fin banner fish, leopard sharks and reef sharks. The area is also suitable for all levels of diving.
Twins; this area which lies just to the west of Ko Nangyuan is made up of rocks with depths ranging from 6 to 18 meters. Among the hard corals are big groupers, white-eyed moray eels, pink anemone, clown fish, blue spotted rays, wrasse and black and white sergeant major fish.
White Rock; this area is located near Twins and offers decent depths for all levels of divers and is very popular for night dives. Marine life here includes butterfly fish, parrot fish, angel fish, large barracuda, titan trigger fish and red breasted wrasse.
Japanese Garden; this magnificent reef is named after the ornate arrangement of brightly colored coral boulders that are found here. Situated on the east side of Koh Nang Yuan and with depths ranging from 2 to 12 meters it is very popular with snorkelers & discovery divers. plenty of staghorn and plate coral can be observed in these shallow waters as well.
